This 3-day Sirimon Route is one of the most scenic and well-acclimatized ways to summit Point Lenana (4,985m) on Mount Kenya. The route offers gradual altitude gain, beautiful alpine landscapes, and excellent chances of a successful summit, making it ideal for both first-time and experienced hikers
Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, driving through the central highlands to Sirimon Gate (2,650m). After registration and briefing, the hike starts through lush forest and moorland terrain.
Hiking distance: 9 km
Altitude: 3,300 m (Old Moses Camp)
Hiking time: 3–4 hours
Dinner and overnight at Old Moses Camp, with stunning views of the peaks and surrounding valleys.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton’s Camp
After breakfast, the trail continues northward through the Mackinder Valley, offering dramatic views of Batian and Nelion peaks. This day is key for acclimatization as the landscape opens into alpine terrain.

Altitude: 4,200 m (Shipton’s Camp)
Hiking time: 6–7 hours
Arrive at Shipton’s Camp in the afternoon, rest, dinner, and early sleep in preparation for summit day.
Day 3: Shipton’s Camp – Point Lenana – Old Moses – Nairobi
An early midnight start for the summit push to Point Lenana (4,985m), reaching the summit at sunrise for breathtaking views across Mount Kenya and beyond.
Summit distance: 3 km
After descending back to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast, the trek continues downhill to Old Moses Camp, where our transport awaits for the return journey to Nairobi, marking the end of a successful Mount Kenya adventure.
